The idea behind the Putting Cyclops started in later part of 2008. After five years of spending more time running a golf course and not playing as much competitive golf, my putting had begun to suffer. Matteo and I were talking about becoming better putters as putting is really where you lower your score in the game of golf. We started to think about what I used to do when putting was my strongest part of the game. Remembering what people used to say that “I had a short stroke going back but followed the putter head straight through to the hole” We keyed into the fact that I never followed the putter head during the back stroke”, (a real problem that 90% of the golfers do) and only focused on the contact of the ball.
At this point we designed the prototype for the Putting Cyclops where your focus was only on the ball, eliminating your eyes from following the putter head in the back stroke. Immediately upon trying the prototype, and then playing a round of golf were I (Kevin Hogan)nhad 22 putts that round, I felt like I had my old stroke back. We added a white line on top of the guard for your periferal vision to get the ball running down the line to the hole. We originally built the prototype using my stroke “slightly inside to straight through”. We tested the unit with various golfers and quickly realized that the putting stroke like the golf swing is unique to each golfer, so we developed the only adjustable putting aid on the market.
Whatever the golfer’s natural stroke may be, whether your “straight back straight through, inside to inside or inside to straight through, the Putting Cyclops can adjust to your stroke. After testing the unit with golfers from various handicaps they lowered there scores almost immediately from 4 to 10 stokes per round simply by eliminating 3 putting. Putting is definitely the part of the game that you can truly better your game and lower your scores.
For those who have a love and passion for the game of golf whether you are an amature or low handicapper we all know golf is such a difficult game. As with the golf swing many things can go wrong with your putting. The Putting Cyclops takes away all the distractions of the putting stroke so that the golfer does not have to concentrate on the mechanics. It’s like having your own private lesson every time you use it. The Putting Cyclops was developed for all levels of golfers to better your game in order to shoot lower scores. Tour players are now using the Putting Cyclops and we strive to make the game of golf more enjoyable by making more putts which can be the most frustrating part of the game.
